Was castiel gay
A few gay jokes here and there, some silly innuendos. There are many possible reasons Warner Brothers might not want to show these characters kissing. And if Cas was intended to be straight originally, then they wrote S15E18 with the intention of creating a media buzz and no thought as to the tragic repercussions for the character and community.
This plot device is used 11 more times throughout the series, most notably in S8E As the two men glance up and see a bow on the TV screen, Dean and Castiel look up and see it too from the other end of the room. Balthazar outright tells Dean that Cas is in love with him in S6E So how did we get here?

Dean and Castiel repeatedly get separated by some plot point or another — Dean dating Lisa, Cas dying, Cas staying in Purgatory, Dean becoming a demon, etc. The first time Dean and Castiel meet, Dean stabs Cas in the heart while staring into his eyes — another romantic metaphor.
From creator Eric Kripke (The Boys), Supernatural premiered on The CW in , back when the network was still known as The WB. So after the episode aired, I went to twitter and saw all the people talking about Castiel telling dean he loves him and stuff and it seemed they were making jokes but now I see even on these forums people talk about it like its real, like they really understood that scene as Castiel having romantic interest in Dean, and I totally dont think thats the case.

It would also mean that the show absolutely was queerbaiting fans, meaning they added hints and ambiguously romantic plot points just to lead on gay viewers without ever intending to make it canon.
Dean is a famously macho character, but his rugged persona is often implied to be a mask that he wears to hide his insecurities S2E He equates homosexuality to femininity S3E5 and denies his feminine interests out of shame. Why did I get infected? His character on “Supernatural,” the angel Castiel, came out as gay in the sci-fi show’s final season — and famously didn’t last long after that.
